i have two budgies, one i got a couple of years ago and trusts me enough to sit on my finger, the other one i got around a year ago and she flies away from me as quick as she can when i’m just changing the water in their cage.
they’re both happy birds and i haven’t felt the need to train them as when they’re let out of their cage, they normally just go back in on their own when they feel like it. they have lots of toys and get regular treats as well.
however, neither of them fully trust me. i’ve tried before to get them to trust me, but not consistently, and whenever i try to gradually build up to it, it doesn’t seem to work.
i was wondering, particularly with the budgie who i’ve had for a year, if it is too late to make them learn to trust me.
if anyone has advice for me, it’d be really helpful :)
