I found a 2 month kitten just about a year ago and he has always had an itching problem, and an off and on coughing problem.
Ive taken him to a couple different vets who all think its allergy related and I agree. The vets listened for asthma and said he sounded great. They recommended unscented litter and to try each protein of food until we find a match.
I have done this and thankfully I havnt seen him have a coughing fit since, but he is still itching a lot. Hes getting some bald spots with scabs and of course I feel bad for him. I VERY foolishly didnt get him a steroid shot at my most recent visit because I thought it wasnt smart to get within a 2 month span but it turns out its not. (The vet was probably okay with bypassing because first time customers were 15% off)
So Im looking for suggestions on itch relief for my black October kitty Spooky.
Im seeing sprays online and am wondering if I just spray directly onto his bald spots? Does it just soothe his itch in the sprayed areas?
He hasnt had his claws clipped since he was a kitten so I think I need to give that a shot (although Im sure he'll make it more difficult then needed lol)
Is there a steroid pill or anything I can just buy online/over the counter to give him every now and then myself?
I should've asked my vet these questions but unfortunately I didnt so if anyone happens to have any knowledge on this Id appreciate any help!!
