Anyone else had this happen to their cat?
My kitten is 9 months old and this is the second time he has gotten an open sore (abscess) on him. The first time it was on his belly and this time it’s on his back leg. I took him to the emergency vet the first time & we’re gonna have to go to the vet again tomorrow for his new one. They just gave his antibiotics and he healed quickly! Has anyone experienced this with their young kitten?
Milo was rescued by me when he was 2 weeks old, so he didn’t have enough time with his mommy. He was abandoned in a construction field with the rest of his siblings. He licks himself ALOT and I feel like it’s because he didn’t properly learn how to groom himself with his mom. If you pet his back, he’ll immediately lick where he was pet—I never thought too much of it. With the second abscess appearing (in a different spot) I’m thinking there’s more to this. I spoke to an online 24/7 vet and they said cats can get obsessed with cleaning themselves. They said that cats can also have allergies to certain foods and so he could be itching himself and thus causing sores to appear.
They said it could also be a parasite or fleas, but he regularly takes flea medicine and is an indoor only kitty. Any thoughts or advice with allergies, OCD licking or abscesses would help. I am really concerned for him plus I really don’t want to be making regular trips to the emergency vet because it adds up. I’m just trying to be the best cat mom I can be.
Thanks!!!
