He was doing fine a week ago. He became suddenly very lethargic on Christmas Day and I thought he may be just missing my husband (his number 1 human) who just moved out of the country. He seemed to be ok the next day as he wanted to go for a walk- just not eating much and lazing about. On Monday I called the vet and he went in. They called to let me know that he had indicated that his elbow was in pain and they found a previously undetected heart murmur. The vet didn’t think either of those would be the cause of his sudden change in behavior so we ran some blood tests. He is slightly anemic but otherwise the blood test was normal. The vet thought he might just be sore or have arthritis and wanted to try anti inflammatory medication to see if there was any improvement. They gave us rimadyl and I have given that to him for about two days now but there hasn’t been any improvement. I just wonder if anyone has any idea of how a healthy dog could go from happy and energetic to barely able to move almost overnight.
