Hello!
My 10 month old kitten got into my decorative (but real) hay when I went for groceries today. I know this because of the "fuzzy" top of a piece of hay being found on the floor.
Since then, he's been sort of gagging? He was full on gagging when I first noticed but he has since calmed down and now he extends his neck while slightly (and quietly) opening his mouth a bit. I looked in his mouth and can't see anything.
He gobbled his dinner down as soon as it was served and played after dinner as well.
I called the vet who said just to keep an eye on him for now, as it's possible the hay scratched his throat and irritated it. He said to bring him in if chronic vomiting, but he has not vomited.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced a cat throat irritated by a foreign object and if so, how long did it take for your cat to stop "gagging"?
Thanks!
