My cat has been peeing outside of the litter box for 5 days. This is the second occurrence in the past month. Originally we took him to the vet for work up and found out he had struvite crystals. We changed his diet and were diligent with cleaning the litter box and giving him fresh water. It went away. Then a couple of weeks later, he starts up again. Admittedly, we slacked off on changing out his water and he has been sneaking the other cats’ food. So we started the process up again. This time all cats are getting the special food so no more sneaking anything else. But it has been 5 days and still he is urinating everywhere. I just walked out into the living room before heading to bed and it smells like urine. Just threw away the cat scratcher because he peed on it. Everyday I spend at least an hour cleaning the carpet and he’ll pee on a section that has been cleaned not two days prior. We’ve used vinegar and enzyme cleaner. I’m beyond frustrated and the anxiety is worse for my husband. Everyday he talks about getting rid of our cat. How long will this go on?? Any advice on how to mitigate this a welcomed.
