My cat has bladder stones, and after 3 weeks of Hills S/D food to try and dissolve the stones, I’m looking at possible surgery. My vet can’t tell on X-ray if he still has stones or not, so she wants him to go to a specialty vet to get an ultrasound. I spoke with them today, and I’m looking at a $6000 bill total with initial appointment ($200), ultrasound (minimum $500) and surgery (minimum $4000). My mom had a cat who blocked from stones, had to have emergency surgery in the middle of the night, and paid around $1000. Im going to be getting a second opinion from another vet before doing anything since my kitty isn’t having any issues at the moment, but I know he could block at any time if he still has stones. Is $6000 average for all of this?
