Kitty jump off the balcony and ran away for the first time. I am worried

Hi there

I recently adopted a very chatty 1-year-old kitty and she ran away this morning for the first time (she is spayed and neutered). Long story short, I live in a flat and so far, she was perfectly fine, settling well in her new home and got used to hang out in the terrace on her own.

However this morning it seems she decided to explore a bit of the outside world, as she jump off the terrace which is at least 7 meters high (I never thought a cat would be eager to jump that high), I was still asleep but one on my neighbor told me he saw her jumping down and happily ran away. I feel an absolute guilt to have let the window open (so she can go freely to her cat box outside at night).

We've been walking around as soon we found out to look for her but without any results. We think she may be on private yards just across our street although we can't be sure of anything. We will try again tonight and every night as long we won't have find her.

So my question is: do you think she might be able to find her way back home although she is an indoor cat and got recently adopted (1 month ago)? Plus I am not living in a house but in a one-floor building so it might be complicated for her to localise us.

I have read that cat are very territorial and usually "mark" their way, so everyone is telling me not to worry on the fact that she will come back easily (definitely not sure about this). Besides calling out her name tonight, we'll try to leave a piece a fabric with our smell plus her food bowl down the building but to be honest I try no to put too much hope in it

Thanks in advance for your help and have a nice day everyone :)

(English is not my native language so sorry for the potential mistakes)
