This is probaby a very asked question so I apologize for that. I have been reading some information online but I haven't been able to find a solution as of now so I wanted to ask for help here.
We adopted a cat last September. Everything has been going great a part from some eating issues we've had. She is a big time picky eater, so it took us quite some time to figure out what food she likes. Right now we feed her 200 grams of wet food a day, as this was the amount recommended by our vet based on her weight. The wet food we give her was also recommended by our vet, it's really good quality. We feed her 100 grams in the morning (9:00 AM) and 100 grams in the evening (7:00 PM), if any of this that I mentioned stands out as wrong or something to change, please let me know.
The problem is, she is almost always asking for food. She usually wakes us up 2 to 3 hours before her time to eat in the morning, or if one of us wakes up even earlier than that, then she will start asking for food. After feeding her at her time, she will usually start asking for food again 30 mins to an hour after eating, sometimes even less. She will ask for food all day, whenever someones go to the kitchen or walks close to it, she will run there and meow loudly. She stops meowing when the person leaves to somewhere else, but I know she sits next to her bowl for hours. It worries me because it makes me feel that we are underfeeding her, we also didn't have any of these problems until some months ago.
I contacted my vet recently and asked what could be causing this, she said that it could be worms and asked me to check her poop to see if I could find any. So far I haven't found any, so it makes me worry that she could have illnesses like Hyperthyroidism or Diabetes. A part from this, there's no symptoms of her being unwell, and no behavior changes. I am planning on bringing her to the vet but I was wondering if anyone can tell me ideas or experiences that could help.
I have also tried to split her food on 4 meals a day, so 4 meals of 50g, but that didn't help. Should I only feed her wet food some days a week and start giving her dry food the other days of the week? This is my last idea to try that I've had, any ideas/thoughts?
