Need to vent ideas in order to make a decision - 14 years old dog with mammary tumor

Hi,

After trimming the "winter coat" off my dog I discovered a lump on her belly. Took her to the vet and due to the position it's most likely a mammary tumor.

Lisa is a sterilised medium Schnauzer of 14 years. Health is good but she's of course showing the signs of ageing as naturally happens. Taking account her age, lungs are fine, heart is fine, body mass in check. A senior dog in good health basically.

They named 2 best options with a 50/50 chance of success/fail. That's a coin toss, I don't like it. Either let the tumor be and hope that it's not aggressive or operate and remove. The problems with the operation is that the tumor mass is located in a tricky area and well planted, had she been younger they would have recommended to operate but due to her age they gave me a 50/50 chance of surviving the operation.

Just got the news today and I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons, if someone out there has got any advice I would be grateful.
