Aggressive grooming
Hi everyone! So we are on day 2 of bringing a new kitten into our household and I’ve got some questions and would love all and any additional advice. Some background info: we already had one cat in our apartment who is a year old fixed male. So far he has been pretty good with the introduction to the new kitten who is an 11 week old female, she has been fixed within the past week. I’ve noticed that he is so fixed on her and not much relaxing is happening when they are not separated. He is so adamant about grooming her and licking her belly but she wants nothing to do with it and hisses and growls whenever he gets on her. I’ve also noticed that he is obsessed with licking her butt area. He is not mean or hurting her when they run and tumble but i don’t want her to be afraid of him in the long run because how abrasive he is now. I know he is trying to groom her because there will be instances where she lets him over her and he was lick her head and body for 30 seconds before she decides to kick and hiss. I’ve also noticed whenever he bites her when playing it’s always in the neck / throat area. He sometimes tries to drag her when he has got her neck bit. Whenever she is let out of her separate room he is fixated on her every movement. They both are in separate rooms whenever we are not home and they eat about 2 feet apart just fine. We are using Feliway Diffusers in each room to help as well. I just want them both to enjoy each other presence and would love to know the next best step to achieve this.
