My dog has Addison’s disease, a chronic condition that requires prescription meds for the rest of her life. When she was first diagnosed about four years ago, we got her meds directly from the vet’s office. They were extremely expensive. After a few months, we discovered that we could get them for much cheaper at our grocery store’s pharmacy. When we asked our vet to send the prescription to the pharmacy, they seemed unhappy about our request and charged us a fee to do so.
They usually will send it in with like 3 refills, then once those are used, we have to pay the fee again for them to call in a new prescription.
It’s not a large fee, so it’s not a huge deal. I’m just curious if this is common practice?
