This is my grandmother's cat that's around 8 years old. She doesn't have any health problems that my grandmother knows of. She has a litter box that is fully enclosed, the cat will always poop in the litter box and will mostly always pee in the litter box but occasionally will pee on top of the litter box (on the lid).
We are very confused as to why this is happening. I've seen online that it could be due to kidney issues or UTI (but then wouldn't it happen regularly rather than just occasionally). Another family member thinks that it could be the cat "getting revenge" for something (eg. Grandma being away from the house for too long), but I'm not sure if I'm convinced by that explanation!
Just trying to figure out if this is something to be worried about and how it could be solved (? Different litter box).
If anyone has similar experiences or any solutions would be great!
