Any of your pets have old gross but loved toys?

I don't know what to do, honestly. My Smartie has this blue puff catnip ball with feathers on top that he LOOOVEEES to fetch. At least, it USED to be a blue puff cat nip ball. Now the feathers are raggedy, the cat nip is gone, it's ripped and dirty.

I wash it but I just want to throw it out because it keeps on getting icky. But the problem is, none of his other (more expensive toys) can replace the affection he had for it and I feel bad.

Any advice? Have you had similar situations?
