I adopted him because he was severely neglected. He has extensive mange and can barely open it’s eyes. Every time I hold him I develop an itch. The first night I was itching all over and it drove me crazy and now it’s the third day and I have been itching non stop. My kid also broke out in rashes when she petted him for a brief moment. And I had to give her Benadryl. He constantly cries and I am realizing it’s not because of hunger or potty breaks it seems like his skin is making him miserable. After taking him to the humane society and getting medicine for him I get a call saying I don’t have work until the middle of April so as of now I have no income and I feel very regretful. I posted him on Facebook to see if anyone would like to nurse him back to health but I got criticized and said it’s mange it’s no big deal. I was charging a rehoming fee at first very low for a full breed chihuahua with shots and medication ($60)I only wanted a rehoming fee so I know whoever is keeping him is going to be responsible and I had a bunch of angry dog ladies saying I was trying to make a profit out of him but I just listed him free out of desperation. I’ve had 5 people flake on me after I say he has mange but they give me tips of how to treat it. I heard it can be a process and expensive so I really feel instant regret I’m planning on calling a rescue seeing if they could love him because I feel like I might not be able to provide him the care he needs as I am a single parent with no income in the moment living on my own with my kid and the puppy would make things hard on me. My mom and sister are giving me shit for quitting on him so fast but I prefer my daughter healths over a puppy she’s been crying complaining how her skin feels like pins and needles and itchy to the point where she’s breaking her skin. I have thought of keeping him outside but I’ll feel bad for it even if he was outside when I did got him. Help am I bad for wanting to quit on him?:(
