Coming home I saw a cat dragging its self out of the street obviously severely injured and most likely just hit by a car. I turned around and stopped to check on the cat. It was breathing heavily and wouldn't move. I was afraid to touch it as I didn't want to cause it anymore pain than it was already experiencing. I didn't know what to do honestly never dealing with something like this so I grabbed a towel and crate i had in my car and scooped the cat up. Took it to the vet and had it examined. Broken femur and stomach damaged internally. The vet said there really wasn't a chance to save it at this point and suggested putting him to sleep. With a very heavy heart I paid the vet to do this. It really hits home because I have a cat myself. As sad as this makes me , I couldn't just leave it in the rain to suffer. Surely , I made the right decision?
