Our family would like to buy/adopt a purebred Golden Retriever. Not sure where to start, I would hate to think I'm inadvertently supporting a puppy mill operation. Suggestions on where to begin looking? Any red flags I should be watching for? What's an appropriate amount to pay for this breed? I'm already keeping a close eye on local shelters and looking into rescue groups.
