How much should I be feeding my cat?

Hey guys! So my cat weighs roughly 12 pounds, and on a daily basis I give him a little more than half cup of dry food in the morning (friskies) and a 3 oz can of wet food (fancy feast) at night. I also will give him a treat here and there.

Usually when he eats he takes his time, leaving some food and going back to it later. He doesn’t eat it all at once. However when he has no food in his bowl he ACTS like he’s starving. I’m feeling like he’s just acting starving to get more food from me, as he knows I’ll give him a little extra if it seems he’s hungry. I feel like the roughly one cup worth of food I’m feeding him per day is the right amount, but I’m not sure anymore so I just wanted to check.

Any advice? Should I be giving him more food?
