If I get a dog, what costs can be bypassed and which shouldn’t be?

I’m considering getting a dog. But there’s a financial consideration to this. Many articles will estimate upfront costs of ~1k plus 6-700 per year. This includes upfront costs like dog training and recurring costs like annual medical checkups and pet insurance.

1). Do these costs seem correct to you?

2). Are the costs I specifically mentioned accurate for most? Or fan responsible/caring pet owners manage without them?
