As of March 16, I will be the proud new owner of an adorable Newfoundland puppy. Out of an abundance of caution, I have already started researching pet insurance options that include wellness plans (particularly in the first year, as we know that can be expensive!)
So far, Nationwide appears to be the best deal so far (major medical + wellness plus with a monthly premium of $59.14). I've also heard good things about Pets Best (elite coverage + essential wellness with a monthly premium of $67.35). Healthy Paws came highly recommended, but unfortunately does not offer a wellness option for routine care.
For those of you unfamiliar with the breed, Newfoundlands are very large dogs. They are gentle giants who, unfortunately, come with a host of health issues related to their size. I want to make sure that my dog receives the best care possible at all stages of his life (and hopefully at a price I can afford).
