Help? Cat relentlessly scratches on my bedroom door in the middle of the night.

I should start by saying this is 100% my own fault. I’m a first time cat owner so the first time we were in a room together and she walked to the door and lightly pawed on it I just thought, “Aw that’s cute she’s telling me she wants out,” so I got up and let her out.

If she wanted in or out of a room she’d just give a small little scratch and I’d get up and open the door for her without even thinking about complications this could cause down the road. Which brings me to now.

I’m living in a house with myself and two other roommates and this is not only affecting the quality of my sleep but the quality of theirs as well. It started since we moved in to this house and since she’s started sleeping in my room. In the middle of the night/very early morning, usually sometime between 4 and 5, my cat will decide it’s time for food so she’ll get up and wake me up by knocking things off of various surfaces in my room. I remedied this by just getting up and very sleepily exiling her to the hallway. She combated that by scratching on my door. I knew she wanted back in but I just ignored her, but then her scratching got louder and more frantic and she wouldn’t let up. Eventually I got up and relented because I couldn’t sleep and she’d woken up both of my roommates.

I decided the best solution was to not let her sleep in my room to begin with, which worked alright for a little while. But after about a week of peaceful sleep she decided again that 3:30 AM was a good time for a meal so she started in on my door again. She wakes me up, she wakes up my roommates. The only thing I know to do is ignore her, and I’ve told my roommates to do the same, but that doesn’t seem to be enough. I’m at my wits end about this. Again I realize it’s my fault for giving in to that behavior in the first place, I just need to figure out a peaceful way to correct this that hopefully doesn’t lead to her resenting me.
