My dog is having digestive issues and throwing up a lot. What should I do?

My pup, a 16 month old German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix, has another vomiting episode last night. At first, my wife and I just thought he was eating his food too quickly and then drinking too much water which was causing him to throw up. But after last night, I think it’s something digestive.

Firstly, he hasn’t been able to put on a lot of weight. Everyone that sees him remarks how skinny he is. He’s been to the vet and is up to date on all his shots. He’s also on heartworm medication, so we are positive it isn’t that. He’s 59 pounds and the vet said 75 pounds would be a good weight for him but he just can’t keep the weight on even though he’s fed three times a day.

Secondly, he doesn’t display any other symptoms that would indicate an underlying illness. He doesn’t lose motor function or mobility, doesnt get dizzy or sleepy (he’s very active), doesn’t have any infection that we are aware of and he’s well groomed and taken care of. He just throws up and then acts like nothing happened.

Should I get him on a different diet? Should I feed him less? He threw up seven times last night and I’m really concerned. Any advice is welcome. Thanks reddit!

TL/DR: Dog has possible stomach issues that causes him to throw up. Owner is seeking advice.
