I've had Hamtaro for about 9 days now, along with her sister Bijou. They are both about a few months old.
Bijou was tamed, but not completely, around day 5, after they had time to adjust to the new habitat. She did one small bite walking up to my hand, as if to check if I were dangerous, then she got on my hand and ate the treat. Now, on day 9, Bijou will eat out of my hand sometimes, after running away and coming back a few times. Other times, she will just bolt away.
Hamtaro has been a huge pain in the ass being patient with so far. On day 5, Hamtaro would not approach my hand with a few tries, so I handed her a treat and she took it, then ran away. Within the next 2 days, I did the same thing, and she would sniff my hand, run, then snatch it, then run away. On day 8, I left it on my fingertips and she took it and ate it in front of my fingertips. Now, on day 9, when I put the treat on my fingertips and watched Hamtaro walked up, she bit my index finger. Now, I thought this was going to be like Bijou and she would stop after one or two bites, but Hamtaro bit me for a few seconds until my hand went numb and I couldn't take it anymore, so I retracted my hand. I didn't want to retract my hand in case it'd scare her, but she had bit me until I started bleeding already. I pulled away and tried again a few minutes later, she then bit my middle finger and after one nibble, I pulled away. An hour later, I tried using a spoon to give her the food, and after eyeing the food, she walked up to my hand, bit the plastic part of the spoon, then bit right side of my right hand, and I pulled away. A few hours later, I tried again with a full metal spoon and she would bite the spoon a couple of times before snatching the food away..
Is this biting something she's doing now that she's comfortable or because she's suddenly scared of my hand for whatever reason? How do I punish it?
