Apologies for posting this first off. To explain the situation this is a long distance relationship, and they will be working all day today. (If he leaves and just takes her to the vet right now he'll get in trouble..he won't be home for another 11 hours as of this post)
He put out an ant trap the other day, the kind that has the ants carry poison home. We're thinking his cat may have eaten some of the poisoned ants, but we aren't sure. The ant poison was put out on Friday or Saturday. Yesterday afternoon he noticed that the cat was really quiet. (She is a very hyper kitty, and always getting into trouble) He found her snuggled up in bed, and she'd spent most of the time there yesterday. Usually she's up and about getting into trouble.
Today she is again, very quiet and sleepy. She usually runs around following him through the house, and especially into the bathroom because she loves playing in the tub. Today she stayed in one place in his bedroom staring into an outlet. He said she feels lighter, but he didn't mention any change in diet, she doesn't appear to have vomited or had any other issues.
What are some things I can have him check when he gets home tonight? Is it worth an urgent trip the the vet and having him in trouble at work? If she ate the ants when the traps were put out, it's not too late is it? I'm not sure how the timeline for this sort of thing goes.
Please help. I'm very worried for the cat, and my friend.
