I have a 6 year old male cat and he has always been with other cats and generally gets along really well. As long as the other cat isn't super aggressive he will end up being their best friend.
I recently moved into my own place and it's the first time he is without a friend and he is noticeably bummed out about it. He keeps going to all the things my roommates cat would hang out on and cry and doesn't have as much energy.
He has been with 7 other cats throughout his life (I'm in my early 20's and have to move a lot due to school, buildings getting demo'd, moving out of home ect ect) and he has got along with 5 of them very very well. One of them he didn't get along with was a really difficult senior female cat who only liked my roomate and the other was a cat I orgianlly got to be his companion but he was really really aggressive to not only him but me and my girlfriend. We ended up giving him to my GF's mom and he is the happiest little dude now so all worked out.
I want to get a kitten to introduce to my 6 yr old male. I figure a kitten isn't going to be super aggressive and just playful, even if it is he wont see it as a threat and will hopefully teach the kitten his mannerisms and they will get along. Is this a good idea or am I way off?
