I adopted two kittens yesterday from a rescue and today we noticed one of them has a bit of discoloration on the fur around her mouth/whiskers. There's no other signs of loss of fur or a rash or anything of the like anywhere else on her. I took them both to the vet to get checked up and mentioned the discoloration to the vet and he thought it could be ringworm. He did the ultraviolet test and the area did not flouresce but he mentioned that this didn't mean she doesn't have it and its pretty much a maybe she does, maybe she doesnt and recommended a topical cream and if it got worse, then a shampoo. And in the meantime he suggested I keep her apart from her brother til it's cleared up as he isn't showing any similar symptoms at all.
I asked the foster mom if she's come into contact with it and she's said there's no chance and that none of her other siblings had it. They're really my first ever pets and I'm not really sure how to proceed. The vet didn't suggest doing a culture or anything and I don't know if I should be doing a deep clean of everything in the housd she's ever touched, dousing it all in bleach, etc. I don't know if I should be keeping her quarantined and for how long, if she still might have spores all over. Any advice would be welcome. I can also provide a photo of the kitty and the area in question if needed.
