My 9 month old kitty suddenly latches on to my hand with her claws and teeth. The bites are fairly strong but not enough to really break the skin....it seems like it’s aggressive play...
I’ve read somewhere that when cats do this, it’s to show dominance.
Things to note* I don’t use my hands to play with her. I don’t pet her for long periods of time.
I’m pretty sure the bites are strong enough to make anyone jerk their hand away because it actually hurts...but I just let my hand go limp and stare at her in disbelief wondering why she’s behaving like an asshole. I don’t want to resort to bopping her when she does this.
I want to teach her that it’s unacceptable and I won’t tolerate it.
Any long time cat veterans can share some advice??
