Are there any good alternatives to collars for cats? She IS microchipped.

My kitten is almost 4 months old, and I think she's just too little to wear one safely right now. I've been putting a breakaway kitten collar on her (with tags on it) for a few hours a day, only while supervised, but we've been running into some safety issues with it, so I decided to just not put it on her until she's 6 or 7 months old and is big enough to not really have these issues.

She's an indoor-only kitten. She IS microchipped with my current info, but she's quick, so I'd like to have her wear tags, in the event that she ever does manage to sneak outside. I want her to be able to have the tags now, but I don't feel safe having her wear a collar while she's still so small.

Some things I've been reading online have suggested a harness as an alternative, but I don't feel that's a good idea long-term, and I think it could present the same issues as the collar, if not more.

Thoughts on collar alternatives that are safe for kittens and can still accommodate tags?
