Cat of 1 year suddenly sick will the vet take advantage of me financially?

Hello fellow pet lovers

My one year old cat Phoenix suddenly fell ill a few days ago and had concerning symptoms all linked to kidney/liver failure (Bloodshot red eyes, loss of appetite etc) and after an immediate trip to the vet and a blood test and few hundred pounds/dollars later. We are on day 3 of his condition and the vets have said it has reached his blood stream and his red blood cells aren't regenerating they kept him for a few hours and want me to take him tomorrow for more treatment and checks for the whole day.

Any experienced animal owners what would you advise doing? He has lost lots of weight isn't drinking or eating and is weak to the point where he can barely lick water off a small bottle cap. He miraculously gets up sometimes but he has a heavy limp and has only eaten a tiny bit of boiled chicken I made. I'm aware he's having digestion problems too. The vets given him a bandage on his front paw it seems (maybe they've taken more blood for testing)

What is the best course of action? Is any treatment worth it and spending more and more money (I come from a low income family so I'm having to borrow money at this point and do extra hours at work) - the vets have said he's too weak for any injections etc but they're going to try get rid of any toxins as well in his bloodstream. What if he gives up suddenly and after treatment he passes? Or do I tell the vet to give it to me straight and euthanise the poor baby because they may be dragging the process on for more money because I've heard of many cases with cat and dog owners. Thank you. Any suggestions or insight would be really helpful as im very lost and need some guidance.
