Cat vs. Dog - Advice needed!

We have a 5yo dog (G), 2yo cat (S), 1yo cat (N), and 10mo puppy (C). (Approx ages, all rescues, dogs female, cats male.) Everything has been fine between them all for the most part thus far. G has always been a tiny bit leery of S (protective of me, I think) but has always loved N. We rescued N when he was really tiny, so I think she had kind of a motherly/older sister nurturing kind of feeling toward him. I have tons of pics of them cuddling together. C is still young and wants to play with the cats, which S is fine with but N just tolerates her.

The problem started very recently, maybe within the last month. All of a sudden, G has been acting more aggressively toward N, the way she is with S. Not biting or growling or anything. Just staring intently at them when they enter a room and chasing them out, or chasing them off the couch if they jump up near us. We try to catch her in the moment and correct it, and N has always seemed indifferent, but recently we had to take him to the vet for a urinary problem. We had to isolate him for a couple of days until he was better, then life resumed as normal. A couple days later, the problem was back, so we took him back to the vet.

Vet said that this is a common thing in male cats and usually stems from stress, and asked if there had been any changes at home. G's behavior was the only thing we could think of, so we observed them closer and realized that N didn't seem so indifferent anymore. He actually seemed a little scared of G. We've been keeping them separate, and today I noticed N get really worked up when G started barking at someone out the window in the other room.

I can't figure out why G suddenly doesn't like N anymore, and we need to figure out how to nip this in the bud so N doesn't keep stressing out and getting sick, and also so C doesn't start modeling her behavior after G.

Has anyone had something similar happen with their pets? Any advice?
