How can I stop food stealing?

I have 2 cats, one is a Maine Coon x Ragdoll so pretty big, the other is a domestic medium hair so big but nowhere near the other one's size. They usually get on but after I moved 2 months ago the bigger one won't let the smaller one eat. Whenever I put down their food (In separate bowls about a meter apart) the big one will start at his bowl then move over and shove the smaller one out the way to eat his food. If the smaller one then moves to the other bowl he will repeat the process until the small one just gives up.

I now have to wait and watch them every meal and keep blocking the big one, he has learned now that he can't do it when I am in the room but as soon as I leave he goes straight back to doing it.

I sometimes travel and use an automatic feeder and am worried if I have to do that the small one just won't eat. I also don't want to have to stand and watch them eat if I am running late in the morning.

Any ideas to stop this short of having the bowls in completely different rooms?
