A week ago I found an abandoned cat near my house. I gave it food water and a makeshift bed. The cat was very people friendly. I later looked at lost cat flyers around the neighborhood and online. I tried everything to find the cats home, but I couldn’t. I’m pretty sure it was abandoned because it has an improperly healed rib and was very skiddish and thin. I decided that I was going to take care of it for the time being. Fast forward a week and the cat has really grown to like me. The only problem is that one of my housemates is very allergic to cats and we already have a bird, two mice, and a hamster. We also have a dog and the cat is afraid of the it. Every time I go back inside the cat tries to come in. It breaks my heart every time I have to close the door on the cat. It’s clear the cat is an indoor cat and I feel very bad leaving it outside every day. Last night I slept outside because I felt so guilty. The cat snugged right up against my face and was constantly begging for me to pet her. I’ve offered to keep the cat in my room only at night with the door shut. I think the cat would be fine if it slept inside and spent the day outside. They said no. At this point I don’t know what to do because it’s clear the poor cat doesn’t want to be an outdoor cat but it can’t become an indoor cat. Also a vet appointment is pending. If the cat isn’t spayed she may be able to stay inside while she heals. That is literally my only hope.
