What would be the best animal for me?

im out of the house for the majority of the day most days usually for work or if i need to avoid my parents. So i go to a lot of different places. i would like an animal i could always have around. Something that can adapt to an active lifestyle i guess And who can be left at home with my dog and cat for a day and be ok or even stay in my room. i don't really want a dog considering the fact that im around them all day at work and i'm very particular about the breed. However there are a lot of young kittens in the shelters near me. a friend of mine just adopted one and is training it to be used to a harness and being in that bubble backpack carrier. i was thinking about getting a ball python or a bearded dragon but i do not think they are financially feasible right now considering covid and the job situation in the us. But i really feel like having something to take care of would be the boost my mental health needs. So would it be possible to get a 12 week Old kitten or younger and essentially train it to hang out around me? i know it's probably a stupid idea however i follow a women on Instagram who has trained her cat basically the same way. She takes him exploring and hes basically like an off leash dog. Of course i will have food and a litter box in my room or upstairs for them or maybe they can eat next to my house cat i don't know... and of course ill get a harness and maybe that bubble backpack for when they're younger or if we have to go inside. but i guess they'll mostly be eating out of the house with me so ill always have food/water/treats and of course i would train them to pee outside when they need to. Would their be any other animal that would be better for a lifestyle like this or is this just dumb? i am open to any animal but only brought up cats because there are so many in the shelters now so i feel like helping one out would be the right thing.
