Long story short, close friend passed away suddenly yesterday and we decided to adopt his 8 month old male puppy (I believe it’s a Havanese or Havapoo). We have a male miniature poodle about the same age (already neutered) but he absolutely hates the new guy. Always lunges and growls at him, but never made a serious attempt to actually bite.. yet at least. The new dog is very quiet and doesn’t react the same way, he’s still very nervous from all the changes going on.
Both of us got our dogs about a week before all the Covid lockdowns and curfews started, so they pretty much spent the first 4-5 months at home and weren’t properly socialized with other dogs.
I know it may be too early to be worried, but we want to make a decision on whether we should actually keep him or rehome ASAP as we would rather not put him through all of this again at a later stage.
Hoping to hear from anyone who has been through something similar and perhaps give us some advice. Thank you!
