We unofficially adopted a stray a few months ago and have been taking very good care of him. Today he wondered into our neighbors yard and they brought him inside and refused to let him out claiming they want to keep him and send him to a “farm”. They also claim that they have the parent cat although this isn’t confirmed. I have licensed and chipped the cat, have taken him to get fixed and have had him for 2 months (he’s 3 months old by estimation). What can I possibly do about this, the police won’t get involved because there was no proof of purchase, but this cat has 100% willingly been returning to our house and I have it’s papers claiming it to be mine. Can i go and demand it back or do I need to literally take legal action against them.
