I need advice as to whether I am making the right decision to putting down my mouse.

I have a wonderful mouse named Mr. Jingles. At the moment he is about 1 year and 11 months old. I love this little guy dearly and he means so much to me. Over the past 6 months or so he has been dealing with a respiratory infection. He's been on and off antibiotics but I believe it's an infection like mycoplasmosis that can not be fully eradicated.

In the last few days he has lost some weight and just two days ago he was having a lot of trouble breathing. I thought he was about to die yesterday. He barely left his bed or ate anything.

Now today, I have made the journey home to do the humane thing and put him to sleep but he seems to have a little more energy. He still isn't eating or drinking much at all but he did walk around outside of his bed when I prompted him to. He also doesn't seem to have as much mucus in his lungs or nose.

I don't want to end his life before it's necessary but I also do not want to see him suffer like I did in the last couple of days. I just want to know that I am doing the right thing I guess. I love him with all of my heart.
