Just moved, cat escaped

I spent the last year socializing, then finally adopting a feral cat in my old neighborhood. He's been an indoor cat for a few months now. I just moved out to a rural area, and my cat just escaped in the last hour or two. He managed to bust up the screen door and get out. I've put out fish, his usual cat food, and sprinkled some of his used litter around the area. He doesn't know this area, so what I'm scared of is him getting lost and not being able to find me again or heading back to his old neighborhood, even though it's about 20 miles away. He had cat friends over there, and he's seemed a little down lately, so I'm worried he misses them. Like I said, it's a rural area, so putting up posters only will do so much good. Are there any ways to help him if he does get lost? I've searched the whole yard already, shook his food, called for him. Any help would be much appreciated. I love him to pieces and am beyond crushed right now.
