On September 8th, our small female black cat slipped outside at 5 am into the pitch blackness and we have not seen her since. She was outside for two hours before we starting looking (I was asleep and didn't know she even got out). We had just moved to a new neighbourhood across the city, so she does not know the area at all.
We have put litterboxes outside, sprinkled food across the lawn and pavement, left food and water outside the door, called her name loudly for hours from our house's balcony, physical searches in neighbouring yards and a few streets down, looked around our old house's neighbourhood, responded to possible sightings across the whole city, put up posters on all of those streets and in streets that are across the two busy roads on each side of our street (they are quiet at night), given posters to all the vets and the humane society, call the humane society multiple times a week, given out posters to homes, walked the streets shaking a bag of treats and warmed up canned cat food, registered her as missing on her microchip, and paid for ads on Facebook, Instagram, Kijiji, and our local newspaper. We also bought two cameras and placed them at both entrances; no luck.
I am not willing to give up because I love my cat so much, so please don't tell me to give up and accept that she is dead. I have had too many people tell me this (someone on Facebook, my hometown subreddit, and somewhat my mom).
What can I still do? I am planning on putting up more posters on the streets we haven't done yet. I will continue to expand the area we search; maybe someone has taken her in and hasn't seen the posters...
