My dog had to get surgery

My nine year old lab had to go in for a tumor removal today, and the tumor she had on her paw turned out to be worse than they thought it was so she had to get a toe amputated. She’s a trooper and we’ve managed to get her to eat a little bit, along with eating ice cubes in order to get some water. She’s also able to walk and climb short flights of stairs on her own, though she needs help getting down stairs.

She’s been home for about eight hours now and I’m still kinda shaky. We knew the operation was coming, though we didn’t know she needed a toe amputated until after the surgery. She has a brother from the same litter, and they’ve never spent much time apart, so this was pretty hard on him too, first having her gone, then knowing she’s on the house but not being able to see her since he’s not the gentlest of dogs.

I guess this post doesn’t really have a meaning, but she’s all I can think about, and I just needed to write it all down. Thanks for reading, if you did.
