I recently got a pet bird, she’s still pretty young too.
I have two problems, 1) how can I teach my bird to feed herself? I’m still having to feed here even though she should be eating in her own by now.
2) I have straw at the bottom of her cage cause she often likes to be on the floor and not her perches, though because of the hay it makes my room smell really REALLY bad, I read that the cage floor should be empty but if I do that then she’ll just stand in her poop. The bird cage didn’t come with a base so I just have an improvised one that doesn’t have a grate.
I own a cage that does have a grate and proper bottom but it’s way too small for her.
For those wondering she’s a young magpie and I don’t want people telling me to give her to a vet or rspca. She has a good home and is being given lots of care. The second problem is just something I’m confused about.
