This morning, I tried picking him up in an unorthodox manner. I heard him squeak as I was picking him up, and now I’m afraid that I hurt him.

Oops, “him” being my 2-year-old cat. Black domestic shorthair. He’s my best friend.

I’ve never heard this squeak before (and granted, I’ve never picked him up this way before, so I’ll be sure to never do it again.

For context, I picked him up like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/86f8yf/my_cat_hates_being_picked_up_more_than_anything/?ampcid=1*1kx6a86*cid*bUZxSUU1NFZPLU5NbHJXQVFWMC1wd0NOYVNXTGEzYUlfT2hRc1dWRTkwWUx5MnBvOHZ3YVhqSlczSUt5dW16TA..

Sorry, I’m on mobile. For the record, that picture isn’t mine - I was just using it as an example.

This happened around two hours ago, and now he seems fine (struttin’ around the apartment, like usual), but I can’t help but feel awful.
