So I made a post a few days ago about how I just adopted this very skittish/nervous cat. She hides when she gets overwhelmed, going so far as to wedge herself under things I didn't think a cat could fit under. She also stress peed on my bed the first night before I switched which room for her to get used to. She's slowly opening up to me, but at the moment I still have her confined to one room which is the bathroom since it has the least amount of hiding spots but can still offer her some security.
My question is, as she slowly starts opening up how to do I keep her confidence growing and try to prevent her from wedging herself under furniture? I have a cat tree coming in with some little hiding spots that I'm hoping will be a deterrent from other hiding spots and I have a ton more toys coming in. I also have been going in periodically to play with and pet her which she takes petting really well. She'll play, but seems reluctant to get too into it, almost as if she's still on high alert. I just want to make her more comfortable/confident while I slowly introduce her to the rest of the house.
