3month old kitten destroys everything, beyond what a normal kitten would

I had a kitten before, and he’s older now, and my partner and I spent several months planning and thinking about another cat. This was not a whim decision in the slightest. My family rescues animals so I have a lot of experience with kittens, but this one has turned out to be so extreme and I’ve got no idea what to do. I’ve dealt with deathly sick kittens to senior cats and almost anything in between. I’m pretty sure he has OCD, and yes I am scheduling an appointment with the vet on Monday.

First, I know kittens are naturally food-crazy. But this one is food crazy to the point of obsession and he could really hurt himself. I wound up in the ER with 2nd degree burns because he dove under my feet when he thought my soup was for him, and I had to kick him pretty hard to get him out of the way of the hot container hitting him as he was gunning it for the boiling hot food. He also never eats in the kitchen. I had to take away the dry food that my first cat would munch on as a snack and stick to a rigorous meal schedule instead because otherwise he eats himself sick. I’m worried that he eats so ravenously that he will aspirate the food. I’ve also had to pull him out of our 3 foot tall flip-top lidded trash can because he smelled a muffin wrapper. He also sucks on blankets and scrapes at walls CONSTANTLY (he was brought to the shelter at just under a week old, so he was pulled from his mother wayyy to early). If there are no fleece blankets for him to suck on, he will starting trying to suckle on my face or any exposed skin while I am sleeping. And, we’ve just found that he has chewed through electrical cords. Thank God they weren’t plugged in, but he really had to climb through stuff to get to them in the first place. Frankly I didn’t even think they were reachable.

Let me tell you the first thing: this kitten is NOT deprived of attention or exercise. He is constantly wrestling with my other cat or we are throwing toys around for him to keep him busy as much as we can to tire him out. He is fed adequately and is fed quality food, his teeth look healthy to me, he’s not over or underweight, we trim his nails to try to help, he has scratching posts and toys galore that we rotate in and out.

How can we deal with this behavior? I am worried that he may be too young for a vet to have any medical advice aside from “he will grow out of it,” so just in case, what else can we do to try and curb this? I don’t want him hurting himself or me again. But it’s getting to the point that I am starting to regret him because I am constantly worried that me trying to eat will result in either him getting tripped over and hurt or me winding up burned again, and I don’t want to have to lock him up every time I set foot in the kitchen or go to sleep because that’s just not fair to him. But I’m really at a loss for what I can do other than what I do now.
