A few days ago, we got a new rescue cat. At the shelter, he seemed okay. Definitely nervous around people, but as soon as we took him into the car, his fright turned to another level. He even soiled himself. Ever since then, he stays in one place for the whole day. He tries to find a spot like under a blanket or desk. He won't eat or drink even if placed in front of him. We thought it may be us, so we left him alone and by himself, but as far as we can tell, he never moved or ate. He got slightly active when we let our other cat in the room, but after the initial introduction, he reverted to this shock phase. If we try to move him, he just meows constantly and tightens into a ball. Toys, katnip, and fresh meat don't get a rise either.
We don't know what to do. We are seriously worried he may die from dehydration.
Edit: I do not know if this is relevant, but he was a stray/feral as far as the shelter knows.
