First time posting to this sub, but I didn’t know where else to express my sadness.... I’ve been a cat owner for over 20 years. But it’s always just happened that my mother ended up with mine and my brother’s cats, and they lived very happy lives until the end. Today I had to dig my first grave... She was a scrawny little runt that adopted my son 6 years ago. She was hurt when my mother-in-law found her behind her house... she had lost most of her tail in what we think was an engine. Before winter hit, I made the call to take her home. She wouldn’t have survived. But as soon as she found us, she spent an entire summer spending every single moment we were there doing figuring 8’s around our legs, there was no way I could have let her try to survive a Michigan winter as tiny as she was.... she only escaped once in that 6 years and gave us a beautiful, much bigger boy who is currently looking all over the house for mom.... she declined from normal to really sick over the course of 2 months... Between my son and I we spent the last day and a half just laying in our master bed with her. God I’m going to miss her....
