How hard it is to move to a new city with a cat?

Hi all! I am a senior in college and I have been thinking about adopting a cat. My only concern is that I will be going to grad school next year and I don't know where I'm going yet. I will obviously take my cat with me wherever ago but I was hoping to hear from others how easy or hard it is to move to a new city with a cat? Is it hard to find an apartment that allows cats? Do your cats transition easily?

I feel very prepared for a cat now (emotionally and financially) and the only thing stopping me is not knowing how the process is to take a cat with me, in terms of finding somewhere to live and mental stress. Thank you for any advice!
