I have to move away for 6 months, will my dog be ok?

I’ve had my dog since he was 2 months old, he is 10 years now. 3 years ago I moved out with him, and in that time, we have moved to 4 different places, and moved back in with my family (moved back here 4 months ago)

My dog is my best friend, he is a terrier mix, but has very much calmed down with his age. He is very healthy, but has abandonment problems at times (eats clothing if I am away for extended time). Since quarantine, he hangs out with me all day, gets me up in the mornings and lays with me. He has learned to help me with my depression and anxiety.

I am moving back to my old city, due to flights and the winter weather, I am unable to bring my dog with me for 6 months.

At my moms house, we have a cat who gets along very well with my dog. They play together, and hangout. My mom works the usual 9-5 job (she likes him but doesn’t spend a lot of time with him). I am worried my dog will feel extremely lonely.

TLDR; dog and I have been inseparable for 10 years. We have moved 5 times together, and now I must move away without him for 6 months- and leave him at my family’s home (living here again for 4 months). He and the cat play together, but my mom works 9-5 and doesn’t spend a lot of time with him. I would typically be home all day since quarantine.

Are there any health concerns that may arise with loneliness?

Will he be okay after x amount of time?

Is there anything else I should know about having to leave him for the amount of time?

Anything that is reassuring?
