I think my dog has a collapsed trachea.

I’ve had my toy poodle ever since he was a puppy. He recently turned 2 years old and I noticed his symptoms have been getting worse. Around the time he was 1 years old, I noticed he would make a weird goose sound when he would get extremely excited, or if I put a collar around his neck. So I did some research and discovered his condition could be a collapsed trachea. I’m absolutely devastated and I feel horrible for my little guy.

I switched to using a harness and I took him to the vet. The vet simply put pressure on his neck and nothing happened. The vet did not believe my dog has a collapsed trachea but I beg to differ. It’s like as soon as he gets too excited, drinks water too fast, wears a collar, or is stressed, the goose choking sound begins. I keep reading, it’s not possible to cure the condition.

Anyone here have a dog with this condition? How long will my dog live with this condition? Will I have to put him down?
