2 days ago my cat ate raw supermarket chicken that was stored in the refrigerator for a couple of days, it wasn’t expired though. I fed him this because I heard that raw food occasionally is good for cats however after feeding him i instantly regretted it and monitored him very closely when he was at home, he is an outdoor cat though so I can’t always keep an eye on him. I’ve heard many people say that cats are natural carnivores so it shouldn’t be much of an issue which was reassuring, but I’ve also heard that supermarket chicken can be incredibly bad for them. Today whilst I was stroking him and he began purring he started to salivate from his mouth a little bit. Apparently some cats do salivate when they’re happy but in the past when he did salivate it would just leave a little wet patch, today I actually saw a clump of saliva on his mouth. I may be overreacting but does my cat need to be taken to a vet? Cats are good at hiding symptoms so I’m wondering if he really is fine.
