Hi all!
First and foremost, I have to start off with saying I absolutely love animals, all animals. It played a huge part on why I decided to go vegan. I'm definitely more of a cat person than a dog person, but I like dogs.
My boyfriend and I have been getting very serious. He has 2 dogs, one 6m female (S) and one 6yr old male(B). For some reason, B and I just dont mesh. It absolutely breaks my heart because of course B is obviously favored by my boyfriend between the two of them. They've been through trauma together, so I try and be very sensitive to their feelings.
My boyfriend is moving in soon and B has been acting out a lot more than usual. For example, getting into trash, food, and even squeezing his way in between us any chance he gets. Its very irritating and the more it happens, the more I build up these resentful feelings. I feel so stupid typing this but the way he looks at me, feels hateful. It sucks.
My question is, can a relationship between a dog and a person be "off" due to jealousy? Can a dog tell when you're not the biggest fan of them? Can this be fixed or will B and I never click the way Im hoping for?
Side note - I'm Bs step mom. My boyfriend and his girlfriend of 4 years broke up a little over a year ago. I'm assuming this plays a role?
